July 23, 1981 is a very important date for St. John Theatre. It was the very first time that the curtain went up on a production. We are so blessed to be able to share so many memories with our patrons and actors over the last 40 years.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical, South Pacific, directed by Mr. Jack Snowdy, was the very first production to take the stage at historic St. John Theatre.
It was the love story of Emile de Becque (Robert Beadle) and Nellie Forbush (Suzanne Reed). Against a background of World War II with American sailors and nurses.
